How to use light modifiers

Video photographer/photojournalist Stefan Simonsen finds an abandoned house in Hanover, Germany and using a Nikon D3, a couple of speedlights and some light modifiers goes out and hits a few out of the park. This You Tube five-minute video is an entire lighting course in itself. Enjoy!

BTW you can do this too if you have a DSLR (doesn’t have to be a Nikon) and an external speedllight (doesn’t have to be wireless although that’s really, really nice) and any old photographic umbrella that you can shoot through. If you live in the GTA, email me for details about one-on-one workshops that I offer with my partner Michael Willems (www.mvwphoto.com). We can show you how to take fabulous portraits like Stefan’s.
